This week One Million Mentors (1MM) signed the Cardiff Commitment pledge with Cllr Huw Thomas, demonstrating their commitment to provide young people with high quality structured mentoring experiences across the City.
1MM has already had much success with schools, colleges, and youth organisations, in both the West Midlands and Greater Manchester. This good work has attracted a lot of interest, earning them wonderful support from the Spirit of 2012 funding body who are keen for this service to successfully reach Cardiff!
Richard Jones in Economic Development has recently been appointed as a 1MM Regional Manager in Cardiff. He would love it if you were to become part of this exciting and hugely rewarding programme and give something back to the local community. All you need to do is complete some online training, attend one of the energetic and interactive workshops and give up just 1 hour per month to help a young person from Cardiff reach their potential.
To find out more about the Cardiff Commitment, you can follow @CdfCommitment on Twitter.
It is well known that mentoring can help change the lives of young people, complementing the efforts of parents& teachers. The time commitment for meetings is very reasonable at just 1hr a month for 6-12 months, where these relationships can prove to be a critical factor in broadening horizons, opportunities and networks.
