Open Your Eyes Week

Some of the biggest names in business, arts and culture will be visiting St Teilo’s CiW High School and the feeder primary schools the week commencing 20th January 2020 as Open Your Eyes Week starts a new year.

This is the first time Open Your Eyes Week has visited St Teilo’s C.W High School, and primary schools in the cluster.

In total, 29 businesses from a wide range of sectors in Cardiff and the wider city region will visit the schools to ignite and inspire interest in a wide range of occupations. The business will be delivering career exploration sessions to Year 5 and Year 6 pupils, as well as Year 7 students in St Teilo’s C.W High School.

Willmott Dixon are one of many organisations engaged with Cardiff Commitment and actively take part in Open Your Eyes Week. ‘OYEW is an amazing opportunity to give young people an insight into the vast array of industries. It is a free training tool for teachers and educators to grow and develop their knowledge of modern industries and the array of innovative roles that evolve year on year sector wide. Nicola Millard, Community Liaison Officer, Willmott Dixon, will be speaking at St David’s C.W Primary School.

Open Your Eyes Week is designed to raise the children’s career aspirations as they prepare to move from primary to secondary school. The week is an opportunity for businesses to demonstrate corporate social responsibility and make a difference to a difference to a young person’s life.

The next Open Your Eyes Week takes place the week commencing 11th February 2020 for the St Illtyd’s R.C High School cluster.
