Business & Industry

Businesses and employers are working together to provide young people with the knowledge and skills they need to succeed.

By connecting businesses and schools, Cardiff Commitment would like to see:

  • Young people with the right skills to support our employers and growth sectors in the Cardiff Capital Region
  • Improved educational attainment in core subjects such as Science, Mathematics and Language, equitably across the city.
  • Integrated education and employment pathways for young people.
  • No young people ‘NEET’, in particular from vulnerable groups such as Children Looked After, low income families.
  • Easy access for young people to information and advice on career opportunities

Employer Testimonials

"Employers and schools are working together to provide young people with the knowledge and skills they need to succeed. We at Virgin Money are so proud that we’ve pledged to the Cardiff Commitment and are very keen to share all the opportunities that we have. Yes, we’re a bank but we’re also so much more! Qualifications are really important but so is experience. At the moment we’re more than happy to provide careers talks & school visits and when it’s safe to do so we can offer a whole lot more. We really want to be part of making a real difference to young people’s lives."

Nia Morgan, Virgin Money

"The Cardiff commitment reaches many schools in and around South Wales, it’s so important to provide students with exposure to what jobs, companies and opportunities are out there. Wales need to be able to compete on the world stage by working with a variety of Industries and hopefully inspiring the youth of today."

Anna McNally, Microsoft
